Adams Footstool
This piece contains several “firsts” for me: a collaborative effort, a reproduction, upholstery, and gold leaf. Not bad for such a small package. Suzanne Horton-Foote’s exquisite embroidery captures the intricate patterns found on the ceiling tiles of the Supreme Court building in Washington, D.C. And that’s what lifts the piece from mere copy to an original gem. The original footstool can be found at the Quincy Homestead in Quincy, MA. Imagine putting your muddy espadrilles on that!
